CAB gives citizenship to those who are persecuted on basis of religion: Rajnath Singh

The Lok Sabha passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 in the national capital on December 09. CAB had been tabled in the Lower House for discussion during the day time. The Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) 2019 passed in Lok Sabha with 311 ‘AYES’ and 80 ‘NOES’. While speaking to media, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, “Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan all are Islamic states, followers of Islam cannot be persecuted there on basis of religion.” “This Bill only gives citizenship to those who are persecuted on the basis of religion in these three countries,” he added.
