A joint team comprising of officials from the forest department and the municipality in northern India rescued a baby antelope after it accidentally tripped and fell inside a roadside drain.

The incident took place on December in Roorkee, in Haridwar district, Uttarakhand, when concerned locals found the lost nilgai and informed the forest department.

Visuals show the antelope standing inside the drain as rescuers meticulously chalked the way out, at one point using a net to try and trap it and pull it free.

Once the antelope was pulled out, the agitated animal tried to break free but was later subdued by the official and it was taken to a veterinary hospital for further medical examination.
