Students at a university in Bordeaux, France successfully blockade their school for the country's general strike on Thursday (December 5).

Sciences Po Bordeaux professor Clement Agostini said the group of students came at the compound as early as 5am to block the doors.

He said: "Around 8am we received an email saying that the opening of the university was cancelled."

He also said that the students received help from the neighbouring Bordeaux Montaigne University. There are currently three universities in Bordeaux who are on strike.

The general strike that started today is potentially going to be France's biggest strike in decades. The planned strikes and walkouts will be joined by train workers, various unions, and universities. It is expected to last indefinitely.
