Two retired elephants play over fence
This is the adorable moment two old elephants enjoyed their retirement by playing with each other. Staff captured the two elderly jumbos at elephant jungle sanctuary in Phuket, southern Thailand. Footage from November 1 shows the bull, named Madee, 69, using his trunk to explore his new friend Cattleya.

The elephant jungle sanctuary is the nursing home for retired circus elephants to spend the rest of their lives freely in the wood overseen by staff. Madee is the first and oldest retired circus elephant who arrived at the sanctuary while Cattleya is the latest but biggest.

The worker who filmed the video said that the two retired elephants get along very well even though they sometimes fight to assert their positions in the herd. He said: "Madee is our first elephant who arrived at the sanctuary and he later became the herd leader due to his size and seniority. However, a year ago Madee's leading position was unstable after Cattleya, who weighed 8,157 lbs (3.7 tonnes), arrived and became the biggest in the sanctuary. They became close very quickly even though sometimes they had a little fight over who is the herd leader."
