A man who claimed to have lost his luggage on a train going through Loughborough Station in England's East Midlands has climbed onto the train tracks, bringing services to a halt.

Eyewitness video captured on Tuesday morning (December 3) shows the man arguing with a station employee before sitting on the track edge and eventually climbing down onto the platform.

Repeated exchanges with station staff reveal that the man claimed he had lost some luggage on a passing train but despite assurances from the staff they would secure it, the man would not be moved from the tracks.

He then demanded cigarettes and the station supervisor came out to help talk him off the tracks, adding that all trains had been diverted from the station.

The man became increasingly distressed, at one point shouting: "You don't know what I'm going through!"

According to the filmer, the trespasser eventually climbed back onto the platform.

East Midlands Railway tweeted at around 12:30pm: "There is a trespasser on the railway at Loughborough, all of our trains have had to be stopped and asked to go through at a very reduced speed. Emergency services are expected to arrive imminently."
