The blind stumble on Delhi's mean streets

Tapping his white cane, Vinod Kumar Sharma spends four hours a day running the gauntlet of crowded trains and New Delhi's congested, potholed and often pavement-less roads. He is one of an estimated eight million blind people in India who make up 20 percent of the global total, according to the World Health Organization.
