Huge red bow draped from Madrid monument for World Aids Day

A Spanish LGBT group has hung a huge red bow from a famous Madrid monument to mark World Aids Day.

The symbol of the fight against HIV and Aids was placed in an arch of the neo-classical Puerta de Alcalá.

Organisers of World Aids Day describe it as "an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness."
