Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa visits India

Newly elected President of Sri Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Nov 29. Marking a maiden visit to India, Sri Lankan President arrived in New Delhi on Nov 28. President Rajapaksa is on a two-day visit to India. Later, in the day he will hold bilateral meeting with PM Narendra Modi.

While speaking to mediapersons, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said, “During my tenure as President, I want to take Sri Lanka-India relationship to a higher level. The two countries have a long-standing friendship. We need to work together for economic development and security of our people”.

President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa visited ‘Rajghat’ to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Nov 29. He was accompanied by MoS VK Singh. After paying homage President Rajapaksha signed visitor’s book and was presented with a bust of Mahatma Gandhi.
