How Ancient Rome used spices to wield power

  • hace 4 años
Rome, Nov 27 (EFE).- Spices were as valuable as gold in Imperial Rome and emperors guarded them with zeal in warehouses that a team of archaeologists has discovered in the Forums of the ancient city. The spices were prized for their medicinal application and some of the most famous doctors of the ancient world would have used them in their concoctions and ointments. Experts from the University of La Sapienza in Rome, led by Professor of Archeology Domenico Palombi, are examining the complex and have excavated a rectangular-shaped space with a porticoed patio.
