A father packed his three-year-old son inside a travel bag and abandoned him in front of a shop in China.

The CCTV video, filmed in the city of Laixi in Qingdao Province on November 16, shows the father walking to the front of a shop and leaving a travel bag with his son inside before walking away.

A man wearing a helmet then came out of the shop and moved the bag from the front of his shop to the outside of a restaurant.

A three-year-old boy then can be seen climbing out of the bag by himself and crying for help.

People from nearby shops came out after they heard the noise and gathered to check on the boy.

According to reports, the boy was abandoned by his father in front of a shop and then was moved to the outside of a restaurant by a shop worker.

Police discovered a piece of paper written by the boy's father left inside the bag, saying: "The boy was born in November 2016. He is in a healthy condition. But since the family cannot afford him anymore, I hope that kind-hearted people can adopt him."

The boy's mother has reportedly left him and his father who suffered several diseases could not afford him anymore. So the father travelled from Yantai to Laixi and abandoned the boy there.

The boy was taken to Qingdao Children's Welfare Institution and his father has been taking formal enforcement measures issued by police. The case is in further investigation.
