'You're being offensive': Angry food bank user confronts Dominic Raab over National Insurance proposal
  • 4 years ago
Conservative Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab was confronted by an angry food back user while attending a husting in Cobham on November 21.

A local mother questioned Raab over the government's proposed increase to National Insurance contributions, claiming that the increase of £500 would do "three weeks shopping".

The woman then explained that she was a food bank user and questioned whether the foreign secretary had actually been to one.

"I'm a food bank user, and I don't think you've really stepped in one. I don't think you've talked to people that are in there," the mother said.

She added: "You might have, like, cut the little ties but when you're talking about £500 I think you're actually being offensive to the people who need to use a food bank when you're talking about three weeks of your shopping per year."
