Sri Lanka’s former defence chief Gotabaya Rajapaksa was declared the winner in the country’s presidential election on November 17, 2019.  Gotabaya was Sri Lanka’s defence minister from 2005-2015, during the presidency of his brother Mahinda Rajapaksa.
