Catalan independence protesters have occupied Barcelona's Sants train station.

Pro-independence group The Committees for the Defence of the Republic (Comitès de Defensa de la República, or CDR) has called for protesters to "block" the access to high-speed trains at the station.

The high speed trains link the region to the rest of Spain -- the country the protesters want to leave.

There is a heavy police presence at the station.
