Renowned mathematician from Bihar Vashistha Narayan Singh passed away. Vashistha Narayan Singh was very talented from student life itself. After studying from Bihar, in 1969, he earned a PhD from the University of California. Vashistha Narayan Singh is said to have challenged the theory of relativity, the great scientist Albert Einstein's theory of relativity. It is also famous about him that when 31 computers were shut down for some time before the launch of Apollo at NASA, the computer and their calculus remained the same when the computer recovered.

बिहार के विख्यात गणितज्ञ और दुनियाभर में अपनी प्रतिभा का लोहा मनवाने वाले वशिष्ठ नारायण सिंह अब हमारे बीच नहीं रहे। गुरुवार को बिहार की राजधानी पटना के PMCH अस्पताल में उन्होंने आखिरी सांस ली। वशिष्ठ नारायण सिंह छात्र जीवन से ही काफी प्रतिभाशाली थे। बिहार से पढ़ाई करने के बाद 1969 में उन्होंने कैलिफोर्निया यूनिवर्सिटी से पीएचडी की डिग्री हासिल की। वशिष्ठ नारायण सिंह के बारे में कहा जाता है कि उन्होंने महान वैज्ञानिक अल्बर्ट आइंस्टीन के theory of relativity यानी सापेक्षता के सिद्धांत को चुनौती दे दी थी। उनके बारे में ये भी मशहूर है कि NASA में अपोलो की लांचिंग से पहले जब 31 कंप्यूटर कुछ समय के लिए बंद हो गए तो कंप्यूटर ठीक होने पर उनका और कंप्यूटर्स का कैलकुलेशन एक जैसा ही रहा था।
