Talking with 'The Baltimore Sun,' the 48-year-old says she believes her
late husband would have wanted her to run.
"We fought alongside of each other for a very long time, and now I'm looking to continue
to fight."

Elijah Cummings served Maryland's
seventh district for over two decades
before dying last month at the age of 68.
A special election for the seat
will now be held in April 2020.
Rockeymoore Cummings adds that she
and Elijah had talked about her running
for the seat before he died.
"He was conflicted about whether he should resign or stay in office. We thought there might be a turnaround. It didn't happen."

Rockeymoore Cummings plans
to step down from her role as
Maryland Democratic Party chairwoman.
Her campaign for the congressional seat
