E-Cigarettes May be More Harmful
to Your Hearth Than Regular Cigarettes.
According to recent studies, blood flow and cholesterol could be impacted more from the devices.
The studies will be showcased at the American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions this week.
One study used 19 subjects who classified as
smokers and were between the ages of 24 and 32.
Their blood flow based on the use of
regular and e-cigarettes was analyzed.
In cases of resting inhalation and handgrip stress, researchers found that the flow decreased
for e-cigarette users.
"These products are marketed as healthy alternatives, and yet we see more and more evidence that they’re definitely not healthy."
Lead researcher Dr. Florian Rader, via NBC News.
Another study has connected e-cigarettes to
"bad cholesterol," which increases
chances of heart disease.
For the analysis, higher levels of
LDL cholesterol were found in
e-cigarette smokers than in
subjects who are non-smokers.
This study included 476 subjects and was done by
a team at the Boston University School of Medicine.
It will also be presented at the
American Heart Association event
in Philadelphia this week
