Keystone Pipeline Leaks Over
300,000 Gallons of Oil .
A portion of the Keystone Pipeline in Edinburg,
North Dakota, had to be shut down on Oct. 29,
after a crude oil leak was detected.
According to a statement released by the North Dakota
Department of Environmental Quality, 9,120 barrels,
or about 383,000 gallons of oil, were spilled. .
TC Energy reports that there have been
“no reported injuries or impacted wildlife,”
and that an internal investigation to determine
the spill’s cause is currently taking place. .
Although the spill did not occur on the
hotly debated Keystone XL pipeline, many
activists fear it is a sign of what's to come. .
This is exactly the kind of spill we are worried
about when it comes to the Keystone XL
being built. It has never been if a pipeline
breaks but rather when, Joyce Braun, Indigenous Environmental

Catherine Collentine of the Sierra Club
shared similar sentiments, saying “TC Energy
has made [their] case for [them].”.
We don’t yet know the extent of the damage from
this latest tar sands spill, but what we do know is
that this is not the first time this pipeline has
spilled toxic tar sands, and it won’t be the last …
