Chhath Puja is celebrated all over the country with great pomp and show. The festival of Chhath Puja is celebrated for about four days. It is customary to make something special in prasad every single day on this Mahaparva lasting for four days. On the second day of Chhath, which is called Kharna, women make Rasiya for offerings in the houses. Mango chick and clay mortars are used to make kheer. Rice, milk and jaggery are used to make kharna offerings. Rice and milk symbolize the moon and jaggery is the symbol of the sun.

पूरे देश में छठ पूजा को बड़े धूम-धाम से मनाया जाता है। छठ पूजा का त्योहार करीब चार दिन तक मनाया जाता है। चार दिनों तक चलने वाले इस महापर्व पर हर एक दिन प्रसाद में कुछ खास बनाने का रिवाज है। छठ के दूसरे दिन जिसे खरना कहा जाता है घरों में प्रसाद के लिए महिलाएं रसिया बनाती हैं। खीर बनाने के लिए आम की लड़की और मिट्टी के चूलहे का उपयोग किया जाता है। खरना का प्रसाद बनाने के लिए चावल, दूध और गुड़ का उपयोग किया जाता है। चावल और दूध चंद्रमा का प्रतीक है तो गुड़ सूर्य का प्रतीक है।
