Game One of World Series.
On Oct. 22, the Washington Nationals defeated the
Houston Astros 5-4 in the first game of the World Series. .
The Nationals are now ahead
1-0 in the best-of-seven series.
This marks the first-ever
World Series win for the Nationals.
The Astro's initially had a 2-0 lead
in the first inning, but were held to
the two runs until the fourth inning.
Ryan Zimmerman's home run in the
second inning put the Nationals on the
board, with Juan Soto later tying the game
with a solo home run of his own. .
Soto then sealed the deal
in the fifth inning, bringing
in three runs to extend the
National's lead. .
According to MLB Stats, 18 of the last 22 teams
to win the first game of the series have gone
on to win the World Series championship.
The two teams will face off again in game two,
which is scheduled to take place on Oct. 23
at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas.
