South Korea plans to support more active cultural exchanges with South East Asia.
Seoul's Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism met with ASEAN reporters ahead of his special meeting with ASEAN culture ministers.
While highlighting the significance of the economic ties between the two,… the minister also pointed out the importance of expanding their cultural partnership.
"We continue to witness the growth and active development of the ASEAN region and growing interest and support for Korean culture as well. It is my belief that culture is one of the most critical sources to drive our futures,... I plan to support more active cultural exchanges that will lead us to greater peace and common prosperity. The creation of the ASEAN-Korea Traditional Orchestra is a prime example of the harmonious spirit and exchanges we have been engaged in."
Culture ministers from South Korea and 10 ASEAN nations will hold a 2-day special meeting from Wednesday in the southwestern city of Gwangju to discuss ways to boost culture and arts exchanges,... such as joint creative projects and the preservation and utilization of cultural heritage.
That meeting comes ahead of the Korea-ASEAN summit in Busan next month.
