विश्व क्रिकेट के सबसे बेहतरीन बल्लेबाजो में से एक सहवाग का जन्म 20 अक्टूबर 1978 को अनाज व्यापारी के घर में नयी दिल्ली में हुआ था। उन्होंने अपना बचपन में संयुक्त परिवार में अपने भाई-बहन, अंकल, आंटी और 16 भाइयो के साथ बिताया। साल 2008 में सहवाग टेस्ट मैच में सबसे तेज ट्रिपल सेंचुरी बनाने वाले बल्लेबाज बन गए. यह मैच उन्होंने चेन्नई में दक्षिण अफ्रीका के खिलाफ खेला था. सहवाग के नाम 2009 में एक दिवसीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय (ओडीआई) मैच में सबसे तेज शतक का रिकॉर्ड भी बना ।
