This is the terrifying moment several tourists hang upside down on a roller coaster in China after a power cut at a popular amusement park.

Video filmed in eastern China's Linyi city on October 1 shows the helpless tourists on the roller coaster high up and hanging upside down.

Two people can be seen making a descent along the track, slowly.

According to local reports, a power cut suddenly hit the Phoenix Happy Big World amusement park, causing the roller coaster to get stuck mid-ride.

The amusement park took emergency measures to rescue the tourists and no one was injured.

Although the incident happened in early October, the video has only recently gone viral on Chinese social media.
