Best (and worst) lesbian rom coms

Lesbian comedians Chloe Green and Ruby from Shelf/The Lol Word rate and review the best (and worst) lesbian rom coms.

Here's the full list of the #lesbian romantic comedies for your #Netflix and chill session, or just to up your lesbian movies trivia:

1. Chasing Amy (1997) 0:13
2. But I'm a Cheerleader (1999) ft RuPaul and Natasha Lyonne aka Nicky Nichols in Orange is the New Black, about gay conversion therapy or, in Ruby's words, imagine: 'you fed every character in The Miseudcation of Cameron Post a lot of acid.' 0:42
3. Kissing Jessica Stein (2001) 1:48
4. Bend It Like Beckham (2002) - there's been many rumours around this originally being a lesbian film, and Keira Knightley even said there should be a lesbian sequel. We're here for it. 2:10
5. D.E.B.S. (2004), which is essentially a parody of Charlie's Angels and also inspired Ruby's Tinder bio. 2:35
6. Saving Face (2004) 3:19
7. Imagine Me And You (2005) has a very Notting Hill vibe - Chloe and Ruby have agreed to disagree on this one. 3:38
8. Nina's Heavenly Delights (2006) is about the love life of a Glaswegian cook - look out for Laura Fraser aka Cat MacKenzie in BBC lesbian drama Lip Service (also set in Scotland). 4:30
9. Gray Matters (2006) centres on a (weirdly close) sister and brother, who falls in love with a woman (played by Natasha from Sex and the City) but everything changes when the women have a whirlwind night in Las Vegas. 5:02
10. I Can't Think Straight (2008) is based on a novel of the same name about a Jordanian woman called Tala (Lisa Ray) who has an affair with a British Indian woman called Layla (Sheetal Sheth) - the pair have also starred in another lesbian historical drama by the same director, Shamim Sarif, called The World Unseen. 6:02
11. The Kids Are Alright (2010) ft Annette Bening and Julianne Moore who is #bisexual and sleeps with their children's sperm donor. Could Mark Ruffalo split up you and your girlfriend? No, we didn't think so either, Chloe. 6:26
12. Life Partners (2014) is about a pair of best friends, one straight, one gay. Gillian Jacobs, from Netflix series Love, plays a straight woman who falls in love with a guy (Seth from The OC) and Leighton Meester (aka Blair in Gossip Girl) plays the gay girl. 7:08
13. Happiest Season (2019), which is a Christmas lesbian romantic comedy set to star Kristen Stewart and due to come out later in 2019. 7:50
14. The Favourite (2018) - if you don't know already - is a lesbian period drama starring Olivia Colman as Queen Anne, alongside Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz (who was also recently in Disobedience playing ANOTHER lesbian character - thank you, Rachel). 8:00
