दूसरी पारी के 24वें ओवर में रविचंद्रन अश्विन गेंदबाजी कर रहे थे. ओवर की तीसरी गेंद अश्विन ने थोड़ी तेज डाली. लगभग 91 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटे की रफ्तार से ये गेंद थी. लिहाजा, गेंद की गति को भांपने में फाफ डू प्लेसिस असफल रहे. आउटसाइड ऑफ़ स्टंप पर ये गेंद फेंकी गयी थी. लेकिन, टर्न लेते हुए बॉल ने बल्ले का अंदरूनी किनारा लिया. और गेंद डू प्लेसिस के थाई पैड से जा टकराई. इसके बाद विकेटकीपर रिद्धिमान साहा बिलकुल पीछे ही मुस्तैद खड़े थे.
