US tourists dwarfed by giant loggerhead turtle as it cruises past unfazed off Mexico's coast

Divers swimming off the coast of Cozumel, Mexico came face-to-face with a huge loggerhead turtle on September 20.

The giant loggerhead, named Charlie, is seen drifting past using its flippers to navigate across the seafloor whilst seemingly unfazed by the nearby divers.

Jennifer Edwards, from San Fransico and who filmed this video, told Newsflare: "I had never met Charlie before but our dive guide from the shop knew immediately who he was and wrote who he was underwater on a whiteboard while we were down with him.

"By far the biggest turtle I've seen before and I have a history with sea turtle run-ins. I once got chased out of a cave by a bunch of huge green sea turtles on a different dive. Charlie was bigger.

"I would guess he was like 5+ feet. Definitely bigger than I was. I just remember his head was bigger than a football. He was super gentle and seemed completely unfazed by us being there."
