Thousands of tourists flooded Shanghai's popular attraction the Bund during the country's national holidays.

The spectacular video shows the tourists piling up along the waterfront area and police officers holding their hands to form a human chain to direct the traffic.

According to local reports, the instantaneous flow reached around 220,000 people and the passenger flow reached 550,000 people at the Bund.
