A car ran over a huge python and dragged it along the road while stuck in the alloy rims.

Surasit Sukwattana, 38, was travelling home in the dark street when he hit the reptile in Pattaya, central Thailand on September 13.

The motorists thought it was a piece of wood and kept on driving until he realised that his front wheel was jammed.

Surasit stopped the car and was shocked to see a huge python coiled inside the alloy.

Unfortunately, the python was wounded and had already died by the time the rescue team arrived.

They had to use a car jack to lift up the vehicle and remove the 6ft long dead python out of the wheel.

The devastated driver said that he did not mean to kill the snake. He said: "The street was so dark and when I saw it I thought it was some log so I continued driving and ran over it.

"I did feel when my car trample on some object. I am so sad that it was a snake that I was ran over."
