New York Mets Fire Manager Mickey Callaway The former Cleveland Indians pitching coach was hired in
October 2017. The 44-year-old leaves New York after two seasons and a
career 163-161 record. Callaway's firing comes despite
the team nearly making
the playoffs this year. New York struggled in the first half of the 2019 season, but then
surged to an 86-76 record. Mets General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen
says the move is in "the team's best interest." Brodie Van Wagenen, via statement With Callaway out, the Mets are the seventh MLB team who will start the 2020 season with a new manager.
