U.S. Tariffs Will Increase Whisky,
Wine and Cheese Prices The Trump administration has
said that it intends to impose
tariffs on $7.5 billion worth
of European goods. The escalating trade tensions are
a result of the US and European Union’s
long-running dispute over aircraft subsidies. Products from France, Germany,
Spain and the United Kingdom
would be hit the hardest with the tariffs. The US is the EU’s most valuable wine
and Scotch whisky export market,
meaning the tariffs could negatively
affect jobs within those industries. The tariffs are set to go into
effect October 18, though both
sides are willing to negotiate.
