Microsoft’s dual-screen device is coming in 2020.

Microsoft announced a dual-screen device on October 2, 2019 called the Surface Neo. The device is meant to improve your productivity when you’re on the go.

“The productivity that lights up the ability to create, the things you can do when you are structured side-by-side is incredible,” Microsoft Chief Product Officer Panos Panay explained. “And then when you span an application, and how it can light up knowing there’s two screen that it’s working on, and that compartmentalization of how your brain can manifest creation through this—I have not seen anything like it in all my days of making products, nothing.”

The device has two nine-inch screens that unfold to 13.1 inches. It also comes with a magnetic Surface pen and keyboard. It can also be used as a tablet, a notebook, a laptop, a tent for movies, and even a large screen. The product won’t launch until 2020, but Microsoft wants to give developers a head start in making unique dual-screen experiences for consumers.

“We’re excited about announcing the product ahead of launch for multiple reasons,” Product Management GM Pete Kyriacou stated. “One of ‘em is to show how the innovation in mechanical design, displays, batteries, software, and hardware coming together works across all of our products, [and] also comes to life in the new device.”
