making $80 million in
its opening weekend. The October record for a film's
opening weekend is $80.2 million
set by 'Venom' last year. According to 'Deadline,' Joker may open in up to 4,000 theaters when it premieres nationwide on October 4. That is a couple hundred less
than the amount of big screens
Tom Hardy's 'Venom' released in. On movie service Atom Tickets,
'Joker' is no. 2 in pre-sales
for rated-R films in 2019. The psychological thriller has
earned positive reviews, garnering a
77 percent on 'Rotten Tomatoes.' It also won the Golden Lion award at the 76th Venice International Film Festival.
