Unknown to even locals in Shanxi, Qinyuan county is an oasis of nature and tranquillity compared to more popular sites in the province, such as Pingyao.  Sheng Shou temple is nestled in a forested ravine, with some buildings built into a cliff, similar to the famous Hanging Temple in Datong, China.  Hikers can enjoy a network of trails in the area and observe several species of birds.
