New York City to Restrict
Vehicle Access on 14th Street Beginning Oct. 3, 14th Street in lower Manhattan
will become restricted to car and truck traffic. The 1.1 mile stretch of road between 3rd Avenue
and 9th Avenue will now instead act as a corridor
for express buses, bikes and pedestrians. Thomas DeVito, Director of Advocacy for
Transportation Alternatives, via Bloomberg The restrictions will be in effect from 6 AM
to 10 PM for the next 18 months as part of
an experiment to ease crosstown traffic. Local cars will only be able
to access the corridor for pickups,
drop-offs and garage access. Bill de Blasio, Mayor of New
York City, via Bloomberg
