Hoda Shams el Din Egyptian Bellydancer 1947

This clip is from the 1947 film Abou Halmous (the father of Halmous) with dancer/actress Hoda Shams El Din. Hoda Shams El Din was born in Alexandria in 1925. She began her career as a dancer and at one point danced at Badia Masabni's sala. Her film career spanned from 1945 to 1965 during which she appeared in more than 20 films. In this particular scene, they are all at a birthday party and the birthday girl is played by actress ZoZo Shekeb (the younger of the two women sitting in chairs) The singer is an actor who is mouthing the words of the song, as this is Karem Mahmoud's voice which has been dubbed in.
