Ban Masks for 'Joker' Screenings AMC Theatres and Landmark Theaters
chains have announced a ban on
masks for screenings of the
highly anticipated film. Landmark stated while it wants customers
to enjoy 'Joker' as “cinematic achievement ...
no masks, painted faces or costumes will
be permitted into our theaters." AMC's statement was slightly
different from Landmark's. AMC Theatres, via Reuters In 2012, a mass shooting
occurred at a Cinemark Theater
in Aurora, CO, during a showing
of 'The Dark Knight Rises.' Many at the shooting
had been wearing costumes.
The shooter, James Holmes,
reportedly was wearing a mask. 'Joker' opens in
U.S. theaters on Oct. 4.
