Alex MacNicoll is an American actor born and raised in Hunterdon, New Jersey. His father, being an actor and opera singer, is the one who really encouraged Alex to get into the Arts. Before beginning his career as an actor, he attended DeSales University in Pennsylvania to earn a degree in acting and directing. He originally went to school to become an elementary educator, but ended up changing his major 2 times before he auditioned for his school’s acting program and found his true passion. He started his acting career in 2014 on the TV show Transparent, and is also known for his roles in films like The 5th Wave, and McFarland USA. Along with that, Alex has been featured on shows like Modern Family, Criminal Minds and 13 Reasons Why, most recently making his appearance on Netflix’s popular show The Society. Since he’s known for working on shows that have a lot of social issues like Transparent and 13 Reasons Why, Alex states he appreciates the conversations works like these create. He notes the importance of looking at things from every perspective and trying to see things from someone else’s point of view. Along with being a successful actor, Alex is a huge climate change advocate and has helped raise awareness for the IAmJuliana organization.
