Villagers install giant statue to ward off wild elephants in India

Villagers in India have installed a huge statue of an elephant at the starting point of their farming area to scare of herds of around 22 wild elephants.

The problem is said to affect 52 villages, including Kukradih, Parsadeh and Tenduhavi, surrounding Mahasamund.

According to the villagers, in the last five years, wild elephants have damaged around 1000-hectares of land and have also killed around 15 people and injured around 20.
