Could YOU Do the SailGP Athlete-Workout? | SailGP
  • 5 years ago
Designed for fitness fans looking for a new challenge, the workout demonstrates the immense levels of endurance SailGP’s world-class athletes need during a competition, by recreating the moves that they undertake during a high-pressure 16-minute race.

This specialist SailGP workout includes four minutes of strength training featuring the use of barbells and jump pull-ups. This is followed by a six-minute heart rate-focused conditioning session, with reps including rowing, burpees and ball slams. In this section, heart rates get to 85 - 95 per cent of their maximum, replicating the levels achieved by the athletes during the races.

Huge thanks to CrossFit Union Square in New York City for use of its gym.

Established in 2018 and headquartered in London and San Francisco, SailGP is an annual, global sports championship featuring bold, cutting-edge technology and awe-inspiring athleticism. The fan-centric, inshore racing takes place in some of the most iconic harbors around the globe and culminates with a $1 million winner-takes-all match race.
