Lung Illness Cases
Possibly Related to Vaping
Have Increased, Says CDC.
According to the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),
the number of cases has reached
450 people across 33 states.
That number has doubled
since last month, when only 215
vaping-related cases were found.
According to the CDC, a total
of five people have died.
Many of those struck with
illness used either cannabis-derived
or nicotine-containing products.
The CDC says that the
"lung illnesses are likely
associated with a chemical exposure.".
Although more investigation is needed to determine the vaping agent or agents responsible, there is clearly an epidemic that begs for an urgent response, David Christiani, Harvard School
of Public Health, via NPR.
Until their investigation is final,
the CDC recommends that people
consider abstaining from the use
of vaping products altogether
