With this fifty, Smith became the first batsman to score eight successive 50+ scores in Ashes.Smith has overtaken his own record of seven consecutive fifty-plus scores in Ashes, which he had achieved in the London Test. Smith had surpassed Mike Hussey's record of six consecutive fifty-plus scores in Ashes to achieve this feat.
