Facebook's Matchmaking Feature
Finally Debuts in the US.
The service, which is called
'Dating,' was announced in 2018.
We've been really slow, actually, with this rollout. We really wanted to make sure we got it right because dating
is so personal, Facebook Dating Product Manager
Charmaine Hung, via 'CNN Business'.
Facebook has released 'Dating' in
19 other countries besides the United States.
To use the feature, you must be
18 years or older. .
Like other apps, you can set
certain preferences like age and height
to narrow down your matches.
But only text can be used while
messaging one another in 'Dating.'.
We know that inappropriate photos and videos can really ruin peoples' dating experiences. So we want to make sure that you can build trust with someone before, of course, moving into your chat service of choice afterward, Facebook Dating Product Manager
Charmaine Hung, via 'CNN Business'.
Tapping a person's profile instead of swiping also indicates that you "like them.".
If desired, Facebook users can hide or show their 'Dating' profile to friends
and non-friends.
With the platform's Messenger app, you can also share your date location with a friend
