World Cup: Colombia crushes Japan, Greece stuns Ivory Coast
  • 5 years ago
Colombia striker Jackson Martinez scored twice as they thrashed Japan, 4-1, to maintain their perfect record and claim the top spot in Group C. Colombia, who are in the last 16 for the first time since 1990, took the lead after 17 minutes through Juan Cuadrado. Meanwhile, a stoppage time penalty from Giorgos Samaras gave Greece a dramatic 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast in their final Group c match. Uruguay beat Italy 1-0, sending the four-time champions home early, while Costa Rica marched into the second round of the World Cup after a goalless draw with the already-eliminated England. -- Mornings @ ANC, June 25, 2014.
