Atletico ease past Chelsea to set up Madrid final

MANILA, Philippines – Atletico Madrid produced an inspired display of counter-attacking football to beat Chelsea, 3-1, in the Champions League semi-finals second leg. Goals from Adrian Lopez, a penalty from Diego Costa, and the killer third from Arda Turan in the 72nd minute gave Atletico a 3-1 aggreggate victory after last week’s goalless draw in Madrid. The win sends Atletico into the final of Europe’s elite competition for the first time since 1974, going up against might neighbors Real Madrid. The Spanish sides will cross the border into Portugal for the final in Lisbon on May 24. -- Mornings @ ANC, May 1, 2014.
