A Bugatti Breaks 300mph,
Shattering the Record.
The Bugatti Chiron is the
first car from a "production auto
manufacturer" to ever exceed 300 mph.
A production auto
manufacturer produces
cars for public roads. .
Driven by test driver Andy
Wallace, the modified Chiron was
clocked at 304.8 mph on Volkswagen's
German test track, Ehra-Lessien.
It's inconceivable that a car would be capable of this. But the Chiron was well prepared and I felt very safe — even in these high speed ranges, Andy Wallace, test driver, via CNN.
The prototype was
developed with Italian race
car manufacturer Dallara.
The Bugatti Chiron reached
the record-breaking speed on
specially modified Michelin tires.
The standard Bugatti Chiron
has been clocked at 261 mph.
The car sells for $3 million
