Why Do These Cows Have Holes Drilled Into Their Sides?

Farmers in the USA and New Zealand drill hole in cow's stomach.

It is often done to clean their stomach as the farmer leaves the cow to graze. Sometimes the cow eats polythene and such other garbage by which it becomes ill and eventually dies most of the time.
To avoid this, a hole is made in the stomach of the cow and an opening remains closed by a plastic cover (which is called Fistula) and the garbage is removed by putting the gloved hand inside the stomach.
these days they are making holes to collect methane gas directly from cow's stomach.
