Commuter groups call for MRT chief's resignation

Commuter groups are set to hold a rally this morning at the MRT depot in Quezon City to call for the resignation of MRT general manager Al Vitangcol. Vitangcol is being accused of trying to extort P30 million from Czech train maker Inekon in exchange for a contract to supply additional MRT coaches. Commuter groups are also criticizing MRT management for failing to come up with a solution to the long lines at different stations. "Ang tingin namin inefficient siya at mismanagement yung paghahandle niya diyan so dapat siyang mag-resign," said Sammy Malunes, convenor of Riles Network. Mornings @ ANC, April 10, 2014
