AFP chief hails arrest of 2 communist leaders

MANILA, Philippines – Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Emmanuel Bautista hailed the arrest of two leaders of the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army. CPP/NPA Chairman Benito Tiamzon and his wife, Secretary-General Wilma Tiamzon, were arrested Saturday afternoon in Aluginsan, Cebu. They face murder and frustrated murder charges. General Bautista says the couple’s arrest is another victory for the AFP, PNP, and other stakeholders.
