11 foreigners rescued in Antique waters

MANILA -- Eleven foreigners were rescued on Saturday after being stranded in the waters between Antique and Guimaras, the Philippine Coast Guard said. The Coast Guard said the victims on board M/B Ona, who came from Coron, Palawan, just had their stop-over in Antique and were already bound for Sipalay, Negros Occidental for a diving activity on Saturday morning. However, while sailing for Sipalay, one of the outriggers of their motorized vessel broke due to the strong winds brought about by tropical depression "Caloy." Public storm warning signal number 1 was raised over Guimaras Saturday morning. Nine of the passengers were French nationals while the two others were Swiss nationals. They were identified as: Sina Sonia Linares Simon Wermelinger Jean Mark Negro Anne Violle Richard Violle Laurent Gahoville Patrick Blanchet Francoise Negro Raynal Gilbert Eloise Negro Erik Charpentier Seven crew members of the vessel as well as three others who organized the diving activity were also rescued.
