Kris recalls James' sweet gestures

MANILA - Proving that she and her ex-husband are on good terms, host-actress Kris Aquino recalled some of the sweet gestures of basketball player James Yap on Thursday's episode of her morning show, "Kris TV." Aquino said Yap made an effort to make her smile during the saddest moments of her life by giving her special gifts. "Last wedding anniversary namin na dying na ang mom ko at alam talaga ni James na malungkot na malungkot ako. Kahit ano talaga, kuripot siya, pero gastos siya talaga at binilhan niya ako ng Birkin," she said. "I mean that was near the end pero parang sinabi ko, parang ang naalala ko sinabi niya, 'I know kung gaano ka ka-sad. Para at least may konting happiness naman dito.' That was my first [Birkin]. Hindi ako bumibili talaga kasi parang feeling ko kasalanan. I know it's a material thing but it was the thought behind the material thing," she added. After na lang ako nagkaroon kasi sabi ng mom ko hindi raw talaga makatarungan to spend that amount on a bag. So that was the first, doon nanggaling, that was July 10, 2009." "No. 1, mahal siya talaga. Siguro isang buwan niyang sweldo 'yun," she added, referring to Yap's efforts. "Secondly, hindi naman niya talaga trip talaga pero alam niyang paliligayahin ako, 'yun siguro. Alam mo naalala ko pa, tumawag pa sila kay Gretchen para magtanong kung saan bibili." Aquino admitted that she had to trade in the bag after they separated as part of her process of moving on. "Pero noong naghiwalay kami, tinrade in ko, sorry. At least I'm being honest. Para wala na, move on, move on na tayong lahat para hindi na awkward," she said. Meanwhile, Aquino recalled another sweet gesture from Yap -- the time when he bought her an expensive watch. "May isa pa, noong birthday ko noong 2010. It was a watch na pink, 'yung face Rolex ang nakalagay doon. I remembered in that card, 'yung time na 'yon, pa-five years na kami. Sabi niya, 'thank you for the five years para palagi mong maalala.' Parang ganoon. "Tapos tinrade in ko rin, sorry. At least alam nila, ganoon talaga 'yan para move on, move on. Kapag move on ako, move on talaga. Para at least hindi ko na masusuot, walang awkwardness so lahat ng sinusuot ko ngayon, akin na lang," she said. Aquino and Yap recently ended their rift after agreeing over the visitation and custody of their son, James "Bimby" Yap Jr. "Lesson ito for everybody, kaya ko naikwento kasi OK na, wala na, kaya ko nang i-look back," Aquino said.
