MANILA – While they have only been together for eight months, the fiancé of Yeng Constantino said he was sure from the very beginning that he wants to spend the rest of his life with the Kapamilya singer. Speaking on “Buzz ng Bayan” on Sunday, Victor Asuncion said he was sure that asking for Constantino’s hand in marriage was the right thing to do. “Actually nung first time pa lang ako nagsabi sa kanya na liligawan ko siya, alam ko na na siya talaga 'yung gusto ko. Siya talaga 'yung gusto ko habambuhay. Doon pa lang alam ko na. So hindi na masyadong effort nung nag-propose ako sa kanya kasi alam ko na talaga, decided na ako,” he said. “Buzz ng Bayan” reported Asuncion proposed to Constantino on Friday night after they watched a play with a group of friends. Asuncion reportedly brought Constantino to an open field at the Bonifacio Global City where they had their first date. Upon reaching the exact same spot, Asuncion went down on his knees and took out the engagement ring. Asked if it ever crossed his mind that Constantino could have said no, Asuncion said: “Knowing her and knowing our relationship, kahit papano may confidence na rin ako na she feels the same way na rin.” For her part, Constantino admitted that she is still on cloud nine two days after she got engaged to Asuncion. “Sobrang overwhelmed. Parang hanggang ngayon, lumulutang pa rin ako. Medyo high pa ako. Sobrang saya ko lang talaga na tinake niya 'yung leap of faith na sabihin niya sa akin 'yun that night,” she said. Constantino said she is grateful for Asuncion because he taught her the true meaning of unconditional love. “Hindi ko makakalimutan 'yung sinabi mo sa akin nung first month pa lang natin na na-settle mo na sa heart mo na mahalin ako kahit anong makita mo sa akin along the way. It’s something na nag-inspire sa akin how to love unconditionally. That’s how I see that God loves us. Thank you for your sincerity,” she told Asuncion on air. The Kapamilya singer said her relationship with Asuncion also made her a better person. “Ang dami kong natutunan sa kanya. May times nung first two months namin, sobrang nalilito kaming dalawa kasi first boyfriend ko siya, first girlfriend niya ako. Parang feeling mo minsan dahil pareho kayong tao, magkakaintindihan kayo agad. Pero magkaiba kayo. Sa mga times na frustrated ako, sasabihin ko ‘Mahal mo ba talaga ako?’ He will always be there,” she explained. The couple has yet to set the date of their upcoming wedding.
